This is a quick follow up to David’s post from earlier this week announcing that InsideArbitrage has acquired The Special Situations Report.
I figured it would make sense to introduce myself to readers of The Special Situations Report and share our plans for the service.
My name is Asif Suria and I am a San Francisco Bay Area-based investor who has been investing for 24 years, with a vast majority of that time focused on special situations. You can learn more about my investment approach from this podcast I recorded with Jesse Felder last year and with Andrew Walker this year.
I have been publishing two weekly articles called Merger Arbitrage Mondays and Insider Weekends on InsideArbitrage and its predecesor websites continuously for 14 years. I am also the author of the book The Event-Driven Edge in Investing published by Harriman House in May of this year.
I plan to not just continue publishing the weekly Special Situations Report for free every Sunday, we also intend to enhance it over time and share some of our other research such as our quarterly roundup of 13Fs filed by specific merger arbitrage focused funds as you can see here, our monthly articles about management transitions as you can see here and our monthly articles about stock buybacks as you can see here.
I look forward to building this service over time and to make sure David is happy with his decision to pass the baton to us.
How long do you expect the deal to take to close? HSR? Any foreign approvals? Appraisal rights? Go shop?
