Episode 38 of our weekly Special Situations Report Podcast is out and can be found on Spotify, YouTube and Apple Podcasts.
We mentioned the following about the Electronic Arts (EA) deal when recoding the podcast yesterday:
“Let’s kick off this episode with M&A activity and a potential deal, or as we like to call them, deals in the works. The big potential deal that came out last Friday was that of Electronic Arts, which is supposed to be getting close to striking a deal with Silver Lake, Saudi Arabia’s public investment fund and Jared Kushner’s investment firm, to go private in a roughly $50 billion deal. This news came out last Friday in a story that was broken by Lauren Thomas and other Wall Street Journal journalists, and it has been amazing to see Lauren break potential deal after deal over the last several months.
Considering this is coming from her, there is a high probability of a confirmed deal that might happen in the next few days. The news came out about an hour and a half before the market closed on Friday, and EA’s stock jumped up 15 percent in response.”
The deal for EA was confirmed this morning as a $210 all cash deal.
We also discussed four key special situations stories including:
A deal between the two largest real estate brokerage companies Anywhere Real Estate (HOUS) and Compass (COMP)
A combination of stock buybacks and insider buying at the semiconductor company Marvell (MRVL)
The largest insider purchase ever by Tesla’s (TSLA) CEO Elon Musk
Elliott’s involvement with enterprise software company Workday (WDAY)
